Video Market Increases in 2017
A recent report from IHS Markit – https://technology.ihs.com – shows that the world market for professional video surveillance equipment grew by 9.3% in 2017.
This is a substantially higher rate of growth compared with 2016 where the increase over 2015 was just 3.9%.
It is expected that 2018 will see increasing demand as governments looks to deter crime and the private sector spends on replacing existing equipment particularly in retail and commercial installations.
Additional highlights include:
- 62% of all cameras shipped in 2017 were network cameras
- A new category, deep-learning-enabled recorders and servers are identified as a significant growth element in powering the next generation of video analytics using artificial intelligence (AI).
