Manitoba Repeals Consumer Protection Amendment Act

The Government of Manitoba has repealed The Consumer Protection Amendment Act (Contracts for Distance Communication Services) as part of The Red Tape Reduction and Government Efficiency Act, 2018.

The repeal of the unproclaimed legislation will prevent duplicative regulatory environments and reduce red tape for telecommunications and television service providers. While protections for consumers remain a priority, the government is also committed to ensuring that the regulatory burdens on business are reasonable and appropriate.
