Alarm Technician Prerequisite

Course Overview

This course covers very basic elements necessary to qualify for ATC 1. Curriculum includes an introduction to the alarm industry, basic math (i.e. fractions, decimal counting etc.), electronics (voltage, current, circuits, resistance, power, transformers, power supplies, batteries etc.), standards (ULC products, listed companies, standards and guidelines, CANASA installation guidelines) and safety (basic equipment, clothing, tools, vehicle safety, job planning and clean up).

The intent of the Prerequisite course is to assess the basic background material for successful completion of the ATC Level 1 Certification

Format

Self-Study
This program is provided to you in a CD-Rom format. All documents are included and can be printed directly from the CD.

Examination

When you're ready to take the exam, we'll send it to you. To proceed to the Alarm Technician Course Level One, you must achieve a grade of at least 75%.

Exemption

CANASA does not exempt students from taking the ATC Prerequisite.  While many of our students have a technical background, the goal is to ensure every student has a good foundation in the material that is covered in greater depth during the ATC level 1 course.
