Q2 2017



May 2 – CANASA Prairie Regional Council Breakfast Meeting took place at the Tri-Ed Office in Winnipeg.  With 10 in attendance it was a very informative session given by Alan Carvers of Underwriters’ Laboratories of Canada (ULC). The presentation and subsequent discussion was focused on Requirements behind becoming ULC Listed and maintaining your ULC Listing. We would like to thank the Prairie Regional Council Members that made this event a success: Lisa Boyer (ADI), Tara Webber (Tri-Ed Ltd.), Kim Caron (Armstrong’s National Alarm Monitoring), Ellery Demedash (E2 Security), Jonathan Metcalfe (National Industrial Communications Inc.), Jeff Munday (Tyco Security Products) and Alida Remillard (SecurTek Monitoring Solutions).

May 9 and 11 – Montreal and Quebec held conferences on the new ULC-S302 Standard. The guest speaker was Louis-Philippe Gagnon, and 54 people attended these information sessions. CANASA Quebec would like to thank LANVAC who sponsored the two events, as well as the volunteers from the Activities Committee who helped organize these sessions: Gaétan Bordeleau (Consultant), Denis Primeau (Sécurité Alarma), François Sorel (Tri-Ed), Martin Valence (Infynia), Robert Leduc (Lanvac), Daniel Leblanc (ADT) and Maxime Lafrenière (CDVI).

May 11 – CANASA Central Ontario Regional Council Breakfast Meeting took place at Jack Astor’s Bar & Grill. With 28 in attendance it was a very interactive session, the second in a three part series on Change Management.  Attendees were engaged and vocal about how change effects people in their work places and how to cope. The speaker was very enthusiastic and funny which kept the attendees focused and interested. May 18 – CANASA Golden Horseshoe Regional Council “After 5 Wine and Dine” networking event took place at Peninsula Ridge Estates with 35 attendees, it was relaxing and enjoyable networking opportunity in a beautiful setting. May 31 – CANASA Southwestern Ontario Regional Council Breakfast Meeting took place at the Best Western Lamplighter Inn with 12 attendees, it was an informative event focused on the advancements of video content analysis vs analytics and common applications. We would like to thank our sponsor: Bosch, guest speaker: David Heath, District Sales Manager Bosch Security Technology and the Southwestern Ontario Regional Council Members that made this event possible: Brian Gibbs (Damar Security Systems), Angelo Bucciarelli (Freedom 55 Financial & Quadrus Investments Services Ltd.), Al Herrington (Progarde Security Inc.), Robert Hoevenaars (Alarmtech Security Systems Inc.), Christopher Kennedy (Hudson Entry and Automation), Chris Neumann (Security One Alarm System Ltd.) and Mark Smith (JPW Systems Inc.).

June 6 and 8 – Montreal and Quebec held conferences on the legal aspects pertaining to the installation and use of cameras. The guest speaker was Jean-Philippe Gilbert, a lawyer from the Bernier Beaudry firm. The meetings gathered nearly 40 people. We would like to thank the volunteers from the Activities Committee who helped organize these sessions: Gaétan Bordeleau (Consultant), Denis Primeau (Sécurité Alarma), François Sorel (Tri-Ed), Martin Valence (Infynia), Robert Leduc (Lanvac), Daniel Leblanc (ADT) and Maxime Lafrenière (CDVI).

May and June – Members of the Activities, Recruitment and Bill R-20 Committees, as well as the monitoring stations and the Quebec Regional Council held meetings in order to continue the discussion on the progress of particular files. In each case, the committees present their decisions to the Board of Directors for approval.
