Alan N. Cavers, Engineering Manager, Underwriters Laboratories of Canada Inc.

Alan N. Cavers is the Engineering Manager for the Fire & Security Systems Group of Underwriters Laboratories of Canada (ULC) and also oversees the Global Operations. He has been with ULC for 38 years holding various positions, with the past  30 years working in the fire alarm and burglary protection area. Mr. Cavers is a registered Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) Technician.   

Mr. Cavers is an active member of the Standing Committee on Use and Egress for the NBCC & NFCC for the next release of the NBC & NFC for 2015 and hopes to be considered for the next code cycle 2020 NBC and NFC.

Mr. Cavers is a member of the Task Groups on Fire Alarm Systems and Exit Signs; Chair for the Task Group on Fire Alarm System for Part 3 of the NBC and NFC, and sits on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Fire Alarm Association as well as the Codes and Standards Committee.

In addition, he is on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Security Association.
