 Description

Trans Mountain operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting crude oil and refined products to the West Coast. They deliver nearly 300,000 barrels of crude oil and refined products each day through 1,274 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington State. In addition to this, the Trans Mountain Expansion Project, the largest project in the pipeline’s history, will add approximately 980 kilometres of new pipeline, new and modified facilities including pump stations and terminals, and a new dock complex at the Westridge Marine Terminal in Burnaby, British Columbia.

In this newly created position, the Manager, Security will be responsible for furthering the development of security functions to support the long-term requirements of Trans Mountain pipelines and other assets. In addition to being responsible for long term security strategies, including the high-level oversight and development of a small team, this position will directly interface with the Chief of Security, Trans Mountain Expansion to ensure the alignment of objectives as well as the effective deployment of resources and intelligence.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Manager, Security, will provide oversight to a team of 4 direct reports located from Calgary to Burnaby. The incumbent will demonstrate an advanced ability to think strategically and effectively collaborate with the team to ensure the organization is adequately safeguarded against advanced threats as well as volatile situations such as protests and criminal activity.

The incumbent should have a minimum of 15 years of experience in a corporate security profession, preferably within the energy industry or other industrial sectors, and will hold a strong understanding of the balance between business and security. Exceptional organizational leadership and communications skills should also be held, having the ability to manage by objective, effectively listen to staff and stakeholders, and engage in conflict resolution. The successful candidate will reflect organizational competencies of being adaptable and analytical, collaborative, results driven, values driven, and a strategic thinker.
