Education session:
Emergency Management: A Primer for Security Professionals

This session is intended to orient security professionals to the discipline and practice of emergency management.

Topics to be discussed include:

  • What is an emergency?
  • What is emergency management?
  • Legislative authorities and requirements
  • Historical perspectives of emergency management
  • The hazard and threat environment
  • Stakeholders and the importance of collaboration
  • The increasingly important intersection of security and emergency management

Speaker:

Mario D’Angelo
Mario D’Angelo is currently the Program Coordinator and a full-time faculty member in Algonquin College’s Bachelor of Public Safety Degree Program.  With over 19 years of experience in First Responder and Emergency Management organizations at multiple levels of government, he has been involved in numerous emergency responses, including during declared states of emergency.  His experience includes participation in emergency management initiatives, programs, and committees at the local, provincial, and federal levels.  Mario has been the recipient of multiple awards and commendations for his work.  

Cost:
CANASA Member/ASIS Member: $50 (plus tax)
Non-member: $65 (plus tax)

Registration:

Pre-registration required. Deadline for registration is May 6, 2024. All payments must be made prior to the event.

Refunds will only be granted up to one week prior to the event.
