City of Toronto Alarm Response Rate Increase
January 25, 2010
- The Canadian Security Association has confirmed that the rates for false dispatches in the City of Toronto will be raised to $130 from $83.50 with a tentative effective date of February 1, 2010. Toronto Police Services has reported a projected annual cost for alarm response between 2009 and 2011 of more than $3.1 million.
If you would like more information on the Toronto Police Service Alarm Cost Recovery Program, please visit their website.
The Canadian Security Association continues to be committed to work with Police Services across Canada to help in the reduction of false dispatches through various initiatives such as Enhanced Call Verification (ECV). ECV requires the alarm monitoring central station to make two telephone calls in response to an alarm activation in an attempt to verify the need for law enforcement response. ECV recommends the second call be made to a cell phone, an option that was not universally available 15 years ago.
Please direct any questions regarding the Toronto Police Alarm Cost Recovery Program to Staff Sergeant Mark Barkley #1470 at Toronto Police Service - Communications Services, Telephone: 416-808-8873, Fax: 416-808-8862, or via e-mail at

.
We will continue to keep you updated on details as they become available to us.
