Reporting to the Purchasing and Logistics Supervisor and interacting with staff from all departments and other offices. The Buyer is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of purchase orders relating to delivery of materials and or services with the objective of achieving significant value and meeting internal customer expectations and requirements.

• Responsible for buying materials and services required to operate the business.
• Responsible for negotiating, processing, scheduling, releasing and delivery of purchase orders executed for the company.
• Responsible for maintaining complete purchase order files in accordance with ISO/SOX procedures.
• Identification of good buying opportunities.
• Suggest solutions for process improvements.
• Master scheduling and MRP objectives.
• Setting of Company's material standard costs in accordance with best practice.
• Cultivate good relationships with suppliers in an effort to get best value for money.
• Resolve vendor problems such as incorrect pricing, part number corrections, invoice and shipping discrepancies as appropriate.
• Creation, maintenance and modification of the Expandable vendor master file as appropriate.
• Investigations and actions for non-conforming materials.
• Transportation knowledge preferred.
• Action oriented with the ability to act at times with minimal planning.
• Provides back-up for the process of importing/exporting goods.
  

• Minimum of three to five years of previous purchasing/buyer experience is preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Reliability security clearance.
• Experience using ERP systems and good working knowledge of Excel and MS Office.
• Minimum of one to two years of freight forwarding and logistics working experience preferred.
