Porch Piracy on the Rise
While the latest stats are from the U.S., the changes in the way consumers shop has created a new risk: the rise of the “porch pirates”. The latest report from C+R Research –
https://www.crresearch.com/blog/2019-package-theft-statistics-report
– says that 36% of consumers have reported that a package has been stolen within the last year.
On overage 45 packages were delivered to consumers’ homes with 44% of these receiving an item per week.
Consumers are looking to prevent future thefts by installing a doorbell camera. Look for statistics to be available in the coming months on the numbers of installations.
As well, new apps are being developed for use by delivery services that identify if an area requires a signature before dropping off a package.
